Press Release: Boker issues Applegate Commemorative Knife.

The Boker Applegate Commemorative is based on the famous Fairbairn Fighting Knife.

Since it is SHOT show season, the production houses have been cranking up the PR machine. On one hand, these announcements are not always geared towards the more practical crowd, but that doesn’t mean that gratuitous knife porn is not reason enough to care.

Boker has issued a Commemorative release of the Applegate Fighting Knife, in honor of the 100th anniversary of the birth of legendary OSS agent Colonel Rex Applegate. Based on the famous Fairbairn Fighting knife, this smaller version is made from 154CM steel and features rosewood handles. MSRP $359.

Boker Applegate Commemorative
Lakewood, Colorado (January 16, 2015) – Boker USA is proud to present the Commemorative Edition Applegate Fighting Knife, to celebrate the birth of Colonel Rex Applegate (1914-1998).
Even though Colonel Rex Applegate passed away in July 1998, his legacy remains with us, and so, we celebrate the date of his birth… 100 years ago. Not only was he partnered with Wild Bill Donovan of the OSS to initiate the “School for Spies and Assassins,” he also learned hand to hand combat with W.E. Fairbairn, was a personal friend and shooting instructor to John Wayne, an expert in riot control and combat handgun techniques, and of course, an innovator in combat knife development and technique. In honor of this celebration, the factory in Solingen has produced four extremely limited edition patterns in the Applegate line of fixed blade combat knives – each limited to just 199 pieces for the U.S. market, and 199 pieces for European distribution.
This piece is based on Boker’s reissue of the Applegate-Fairbairn Fighting Knife (model 120543AF), but features milled rosewood handles and 154CM blade steel. Comes complete with a commemorative box and certificate of authenticity. Blade length: 6”. Overall length: 10¾”. Suggested Retail Price: $359.00.
The Boker Applegate Fighting Knife Commemorative (model 120443AF) is now available for purchase through Boker USA, Inc. Additional information can be found at

  1. Sam L. says:

Too expensive for me. I’ll stick with my late-’60s Gerber MkII (straight, not angled). Cost me $25, then.

  2. ChuckN says:

I thought all of Boker’s Faribain knives
    were commemorative. They’re certainly
not capable of being a combat/street knife.

    1. Roger says:

There actually are a lot of them being carried in war zones all around the world. They’re capable of being combat knives.
