The Tucson police have release some 600 images taken in the aftermath of spree killer Jared Lee Loughner’s attack on a rally for Congresswoman Gabrielle Giffords. Included in the photo gallery: the knife Loughner carried during his homicidal frenzy. It’s a Smith & Wesson Extreme Ops. Smith doesn’t offer the knife in that particular blade or handle shape any more. The current $24.95 Extreme Ops is fashioned from titanium coated 420 stainless steel with a black G10 handle. It’s imported from China.

  1. I have no idea why anyone would carry one of these. They weight about 5 lbs and have the ergonomics of a brick. I received one as a gift from a buddy several years ago. It now serves as a paper weight in my office.

  2. I have one of the tanto bladed S&W knives with the G10 holey handle. It is by far the worst knife I’ve ever had. It seemed ok at first, and for $14 I was curious, but it quickly turned into a dull floppy useless waste of time. At least thats what she said. I’ll stick to Benchmade and Spyderco from now on.
