Mora Knives At A Brick-And-Mortar Store?

Here’s something I’ve never seen before, and didn’t expect to see ever: a Mora knife in a local brick-and-mortar sporting goods store. I’d never seen a physical Mora knife for sale before in my entire life until yesterday.

With apologies to The Doors, the real shocker isn’t Jim Morrison’s clandestine F-bomb at 2:49 in this video: it’s that this ‘Light My Fire’ knife costs just about the same as it would cost online after shipping and handling. Kudos to Sportsman’s Warehouse for not jacking up the price just because they could.

Come on set the night on fire!

  1. Classic R&R song. The Door’s music was fitting for use in the film ‘Apocalypse Now’ though Wagner’s ‘Ride of the Valkyrie’ was perfect for the Air Assault attack scene. I thought the 2:49 F-bomb would be the F-word is in F_ck and not Fire. On Amazon, I found the Light My Fire Mora Knife w/ Fire Steel at $28 with free shipping.

  2. You have seen something that I haven’t. Probably a good thing they don’t have them at the local stores. I would likely buy one every time I went to the lgs. Eventually they’d overrun my house.

  3. How far inland do you think they’ve made it? I might stop by a Sportsman’s Warehouse to mess with one and salivate some more before mine actually arrive.

  4. Well, my Military OD Companion arrived today. Razor sharp, I imagine the handle would feel nice if my hands weren’t a scabrous mass of blisters. Sheathe really holds the thing in there. Blade came really shiny.

I hope the Classic No. 2 that I also ordered gets here tomorrow.

I didn’t see any Moras at my local Sportsman’s Warehouse. Not yet.

    • An old friend learned I was into Moras, and gave me a Mora Bushcraft that he’d worked over with a 12,000 grit waterstone. It feels sharper than broken glass; truly scary sharp with a 15 degree bevel. Outstanding knives.
