New From CRKT: Snap-On Wrinkle By Ken Onion

(Editors Note 7/18/14 – Welcome to all who are viewing this page. For some strange reason this particular year-old post is accounting for 10% of my traffic today yet I can’t find a pingback or referral site to attribute it to. Can someone please let me know who is sending you all our way in the Comment section below?  Thanks – HCA)

Snap-On has been one of the best names in expensive tools for decades, but tool companies are kind of notorious for putting their brand names on some really crappy knives. CRKT is helping them buck this trend with the new Ken Onion-designed ‘Wrinkle’ assisted opener.

I think it looks more like a russet potato myself, but they couldn’t call it a ‘Ripple’ (chip) because that name was already taken. That weird AUS8 kukri/wharnecliffe blade is something I’d really like to try, along with the ball bearing pivot/opener mechanism.

The Wrinkle’s MSRP is $125, and unfortunately there probably won’t be any internet special prices on these. They’re only for sale at Snap-On dealers, which suggests that these may prove to be highly collectible. Grab one here if you can’t resist.

  1. Video says they come in 4 colors. Looks like an interesting design. Unfortunately it appears to be tip-up carry only.

  2. The previous CRKT Snap On knife was a piece of shoddy workmanship. I know of two individuals who owned the previous knife. They had numerous problems even after returning them for repair. Neither one carries the knife anymore.
I have carried other CRKT knives that have been great.

  3. I’m really intrigued by both that handle and that blade, but I’ve seen several other knives listed here recently that I’d rather spend $125 on.

  4. While I do like the design and I love Ken Onion knives I can’t see myself paying that much for AUS8 steel. I got a Zero Tolerance 0350 for less money and it has S30V

  5. In response to your inquiry of why your traffic has increased, the web outlet store Woot.com has these on sale for $29.99 today, 7/18/2014. People like me are coming to your site to try to find reviews. The ones on Woot do not have Snap On written on them, but they seem to be the same knife.

  6. Thank you Gentlemen and welcome to TTAK. Thanks for the response.

It is the same knife. I think it was a little pricey for AUS8 steel at full retail, but for $30 it is a heck of a deal.

I hope you all find the site useful and hope you visit us again.

  7. These knives have been a featured sale item on WOOT.com over the past month. Thats where you would be getting the uptick in traffic from.
