Snap-On has been one of the best names in expensive tools for decades, but tool companies are kind of notorious for putting their brand names on some really crappy knives. CRKT is helping them buck this trend with the new Ken Onion-designed ‘Wrinkle’ assisted opener.
I think it looks more like a russet potato myself, but they couldn’t call it a ‘Ripple’ (chip) because that name was already taken. That weird AUS8 kukri/wharnecliffe blade is something I’d really like to try, along with the ball bearing pivot/opener mechanism.
The Wrinkle’s MSRP is $125, and unfortunately there probably won’t be any internet special prices on these. They’re only for sale at Snap-On dealers, which suggests that these may prove to be highly collectible. Grab one here if you can’t resist.
