Obscure Object Of Desire

Mountain-Shaped Bread Knife Looks Like Swiss Alps, Cuts Like….?

No, this knife doesn’t represent a horrible accident with a grinding wheel. It looks like this on purpose, to appear like the silhouettes of the Swiss Alps as seen from Zurich. If you’re pining for a sharpened slice of the Alps, these knives can be yours for as little as 69 Swiss francs. Plus shipping.

But Wait! There’s more…

Other knives are shaped to look like the Bernese Oberland, Lac Leman, and Toggenberg. Sharpening these irregularly-serrated Alpenmessers will require a Spyderco Sharpmaker and a lot of time and patience. More time and patience than I would be personally inclined to devote to such an undertaking, at least.

But for all you haters out there who wonder whether such a bizarre knife can actually slice bread, Panoramaknives.ch even posted this short video to dispel your doubts:

I’m almost struck numb by the mere existence of a video showing a loaf of bread being sliced, but there it is.

  1. I dunno, it’s kinda neat. If I had any connection whatsoever to Switzerland, I’d probably buy one.

However, I was born and raised in Florida, so a knife that looks like my homeland would be decidedly more dull. So to speak.
