A Shotgun Is Deadlier Than A Knife. What’s Deadlier Than A Shotgun Shooting Knives? Just About Anything.

I’ve often stated my thesis, and here I’ll state it again: the age of combining firearms with edged weapons is over. If you needed a little more proof, consider the external ballistics of a 12-gauge faux Victorinox Solitaire novelty load.

As Mark Twain once famously said about derringers, if someone is shooting one of these shells at you the only safe place is directly in front of the muzzle.

  1. This doesn’t make any sence, Why wouldn’t they use a shotgun shell fill with little bits of knives like just the tips or something? Maybe tiny double ought throwing stars.

BTW I think Mark Twain was talking about the new Smith And Wesson revolver that had just come out which shot .22 shorts, Not Derringers. I’ll look it up though.

They have in the past. It’s called flechette.

  2. I was armed to the teeth with a pitiful little Smith & Wesson’s seven-shooter, which carried a ball like a homopathic pill, and it took the whole seven to make a dose for an adult. But I thought it was grand. It appeared to me to be a dangerous weapon. It had only one fault–you could not hit anything with it. One of our ‘conductors’ practiced awhile on a cow with it, and as long as she stood still and behaved herself she was safe; but as soon as she went to moving about, and he got to shooting at other things, she came to grief.
    Direct Quote from Mark Twain.
