This morning I offer you a trio of links and some knife porn from Twitter. As a reminder, you can always send us links and suggestions at thetruthaboutknives@gmail.com. You can follow us on Twitter at @knifetruth. On to today’s links…

From our hoplophobic friends across the pond.  A judge became visibly shaken, stating “This knife business must end“, when sentencing three men to 23 years in Her Majesty’s Prison for the stabbing murder of a 16 year old honor student. All three men were in their early 20’s and had multiple prior convictions for assaults.

Judging by the comments below the article, our English brothers are a tad cynical about their criminal justice system. It seems that the problem is not knives, which are a ubiquitous tool impossible to remove from society, but rather a revolving door penal system that allows violent criminals to return to society after serving only fractions of their sentence.

Forbes.com has an interesting article talking about the Uiger conflict and all of the knifings in China. To what extent the conflict is driven by Islam versus simply being an oppressed people lashing out against their masters is unclear. Either way, they are lashing out with the only tool they have readily available – knives. This is why the Chinese Government is so terrified of 3D-printing and the Pandora’s box it unleashes. An oppressed people could arm themselves with firearms and throw off their shackles.

From the depths of uselessness: The Bible of Barbecue. This book includes a charcoal cover, a page on which you can sharpen your carving knife, a page that unfolds into an apron, spices and more. Everything you need except the beef for a Brazilian barbecue. See the video above.

  1. What does it have in its pocketsssss? Nice watch and folder, though I got to say that is a bit light for EDC. I got to do a pocket dump pic, seems to be the in thing. 😉

The knife attack issue in England has been simmering along for decades, well before the firearms bans. Knifing people is an old and hoary tradition in Merrye Olde, and their bobbies have been pushing to ban all manner of knives in public. Hand tools, too. And lets not forget sticks/canes. Hell, a few years ago there was quite the brewhaha about a guy beating up 3 muggers with a broom handle, he actually went to jail. For defending himself. With a stick.
