Central Middle School in Tinly Park, Illinois was placed on “hard lockdown” in response to the report of a student bringing a pocketknife to school.
“The lockdown was issued around 2:20 p.m., and students were kept inside classrooms while staff and police investigated. Staff were able to locate and secure the pocketknife, and the lockdown was lifted at 2:50 p.m., said Principal Randy Fortin…”
“The lockdown was a precautionary measure to ensure all students were safe, Fortin said.
Fortin declined to comment on disciplinary measures against the student.”
Why such a dramatic response to such a simple violation of policy? If there was no violent act, why not simply call the kid to the principal’s office and ask him for the knife? But why act rationally when you can instead call in the stormtroopers? I guess it is never too soon to get the kids used to living in a Police State.
Better lock up all the bats in gym class too. You can never be too careful. It is for the children after all.
