Unfortunately I was unable to get to a PC today when David sent me this, so I apologize that it isn’t as timely as my post yesterday.
From the video, it is hard to really tell much of what is going on, beyond that Stone was facing off against multiple people, and you can fairly clearly see one of them stab Stone in the back. Stone seemed unaffected at the time despite the spreading bloodstain on his white shirt.
Police were adamant in stating that the attack was related to an argument and not the Paris train attack.
From the NY Daily News:
“The stabbing is not terror-related, Dept. Chief Ken Bernard said at a Thursday press conference.
Dramatic surveillance video of the encounter shows Stone and others tangling with the men in a fight that starts on the sidewalk and spills out on the street. Stone can be seen fighting three men off — and he keeps swinging even after one of them quickly and repeatedly stabs him. A red spot can be seen growing on Stone’s white shirt, but the hulking hero is still standing as the video ends.
Bernard called it “a very unfortunate altercation between two groups of folks who were enjoying the nightlife.”
Police did not detail why the two groups were fighting and did not disclose Stone’s role in the quarrel…
…Cops are still hunting for the suspects, identified as two male Asians wearing white T-shirts and blue jeans. The two fled in a 2009 to 2012 dark colored Toyota Camry after the bloody attack. Late Thursday, Sacramento police released footage of the suspects getting into the getaway car.”
Some pundits such as Pamela Geller have insinuated that the label “Asian” is a euphemism for “Muslim”. This was the term used in England where authorities covered up an epidemic of Muslim rape gangs in the town of Rotherham . Without a more credible source than Ms. Geller, I am not going to weigh in one way or another.
What does get me is that this is the second massive coincidence in the past week regarding the Paris train attack heroes. Alek Skarlatos is actually enrolled at Umpqua Community College, the site of last week’s spree killing. Skarlatos was out of town at the time, filming an episode of Dancing With the Stars.
It is not tin-foil hat material, but is at least Wrigley Gum wrapper worthy.
