Last October, we covered the story of the Detroit EMTs that were gravely wounded when a friend of a patient became violent and attacked them with a knife. Monday, EMT Kelly Adams testified against Michael Montgomery, 30, who has also been implicated in a rape and murder case from 10 years ago.

From MLive.com:

Adams was in the ambulance treating a woman Montgomery was with when he became enraged, according to Wayne County Prosecutor Kym Worthy because he could not get in the ambulance also.

Rojas and Montgomery were outside the ambulance. By the time Adams realized there was an altercation, Montgomery has already slashed Rojas’ hand with the box-cutter, slicing tendons and arteries in his hand, she said.

“My partner was swinging his hand and blood was going everywhere,” Adams testified. She grabbed a step-stool, walked behind Montgomery and hit him over the shoulder and neck twice.

“He didn’t even acknowledge that I hit him,” Adams testified. “It was like it didn’t faze him.”

Montgomery followed Rojas, who was retreating, and slashed him again.

“I went after him and hit him again,” Adams said. “And then he turned and hit me” before cutting me.

The encounter lasted up to five minutes, Adams said. When it ended, Adams said police were five minutes away.

Rojas was standing in “a puddle of blood.” Adams asked him if he could drive. He said he could.

They drove themselves to Detroit Receiving Hospital while still losing large amounts of blood.

Police were able to locate and arrest Montgomery the following day. They charged him with two counts of assault with intent to murder and assault with intent to do great bodily harm stemming from the EMS attack.

He was charged with eight more felonies, including first-degree murder, first-degree criminal sexual conduct, torture and kidnapping for the 2005 and 2006 cold cases.

I hope this waste of life gets offed in Prison. I would rather he spend his time rotting when it is not on the taxpayer’s dime.

  1. As terrible as this story is, what is perhaps even worse is the number of wussbags who will undoubtedly sob about the civil rights of the attacker and his special needs.

  2. i am in complete agreement with your sentiments.
nothing .09 cents of ammo wouldn’t cure.
i still don’t get how it’s cheaper to keep “them ” alive for life.
especially with so many willing to step up for free. give me the pliers and the blow torch.

  3. If the police were 10 minutes away they would be dead. This imcident proves why an EMT should be allowed to conceal a gun. The police and the EMTs could cross train with the police learning EMT medical training and the EMTs learning police gun training.
