I don’t know what the equivalent phrase for “break a leg” is in Japanese, but I am pretty sure that it doesn’t translate to “get stabbed in the gut”.
“A play rehearsal turned deadly in Japan when an actor was stabbed in the stomach with a samurai sword — and police Tuesday were investigating whether it was an accident or murder.
Daigo Kashino groaned after his abdomen was punctured Monday with the 28-inch weapon, witnesses said. He died several hours after he was rushed to a Toyko hospital from the studio, the Japan Times reported.”
An autopsy has been scheduled to determine the exact cause of his death, Japanese media reported.”
I wonder if there were any parallels to The Crow.
A note of explanation for the video: There was no image at either NBC or Japan times. So on a whim I searched “seppuku funny” on YouTube. That’s the best I could come up with. Seemed better than a stock image of a katana. I found it mildly amusing.
