It’s KnifeRights Ultimate Steel time again!

It’s the most wonderful time of the year – Ultimate Steel time.

The turning of the season brings many things. The tulips and dogwoods are in full bloom. Streams are teaming with trout which are awaking from their winter sluggishness. Baseball is back, and KnifeRights has released its prize list for the 2016 KnifeRights Ultimate Steel Spectacular.

Ultimate Steel is the flagship annual fundraiser for KnifeRights. Each year they assemble a pool of knives, guns, and other related items totaling more than $200,000 in value. Fighting to protect and restore your God-given right to keep and bear knives comes with a steep price, and a huge portion of KnifeRights’ budget comes from the money they raise during this contest.

The Grand-Daddy of all the prizes is a Damascus Fighter (actual knife pending) made by Harvey Dean and engraved by Barry Lee Hands. This one-of-a-kind objet d’art clocks in at a cool $25k value. You can win this knife, knives signed by Sheriff David Clarke, Colonel Oliver North, Gunny Ermey, and other Second Amendment movement celebrities, or scores of other prizes, for a donation of as little as $20.

As has been the case in the past, there are many donation levels, many of which include thank-you gifts for you. With each increase in donation, your number of prize entries increases. $20 gets you 1 entry, $40 gets you 2. A $60 donation nets you a bonus entry for a total of 4 plus the first bonus gift (included at all subsequent levels), a one-year membership to KnifeRights.

At the $100 donation level comes the special-edition steel. (mock-up, final may differ slightly)

With a $100 donation comes the steel. First, an Ultimate Steel edition Spyderco Ambitious, followed by an Esse Izula at $200, a Benchmade Amicus at $500, and a Damascus Hogue EX-AO1 at the $1000 level.

For a $500 donation, you get a Benchmade Amicus (mock-up, final may differ slightly)

Last year, David and I both made $100 donations from our personal funds. We received Leatherman Rebars, KnifeRights memberships, and David even won a knife from the drawing itself, though which one escapes me at the moment.

KnifeRights has been riding a wave of success, with Preemption laws going into effect in several states, and knife restrictions being repealed in others. This is only possible if they have the financial resources to keep up the fight. Make a donation today, and good luck in the drawing.

I did this last year, got a SOG Twitch, and got their e-mail announcing this on the 13th.

One exception to my appreciation of the new format: I’d like to see a link to the comments of each post.
