That modus operandi is pretty specific and differs dramatically from what happened to two cats in Norfolk the other night where they were stabbed and cut repeatedly, wounding one so severely that it had to be euthanized.

Vets describe the appalling injuries to the Russian blues called Midnight and her sister Twilight as the most savage they have ever witnessed.
The RSPCA says the attack was deliberate and have released shocking pictures of the pets’ appalling injuries as they track down the attacker.
Twilight had been sliced open so that her internal organs were exposed when she was found collapsed near her home.
Moments before she had been found by a neighbour, Midnight had limped home in Aylsham, Norfolk, with a bleeding leg.
The cats’ horrified owner rushed the animals to the vets but Twilight’s injuries were so severe there was no alternative than to end her suffering.
As Midnight recovers from her wounds, the RSPCA has launched an investigation to track down the knife attacker.
As I said, this is a completely different type of attack than is typical of the M25 killer whose crimes have taken place about 150 miles away. Express continues:
While the RSPCA investigates the double attack in Norfolk, there are fears that the so-called M25 Cat Killer has struck again 150 miles away in Sanderstead, near Croydon. South Norwood Animal Rescue and Liberty – SNARL – said today that it had collected the head of a ginger cat that may belong to body reported to the group a few weeks ago,“Although fairly decomposed, the injury to the neck is consistent with the others,” it said.
SNARL has been working with the Metropolitan Police and the RSPCA to identify the so-called M25 Cat Killer in an operation code-named Takahe.
Post mortems have already confirmed 28 deaths and another 70 bearing the killer’s “hallmarks” have come to light since February.
Around here we only worry about coyotes taking cats, which has happened one at least 2 occasions on my peninsula. But I blame the owners, not the coyotes who are just being coyotes. Any person who intentionally kills and mutilates defenseless animals is a sick and twisted individual.
