Welcome Back Knife Fans…Round 2 of our 2017 Knife Madness tournament is upon us, starting with a matchup between KA-BAR and CASE, in the USA- Legacy division. Both companies are based in New York State, and trace their roots back more than a century. We couldn’t ask for a better matchup to kick off our Sweet 16 coverage.

Remember: You can vote twice. Once in the blog comments below, and once by Liking/Loving the post at this Facebook link.

I am not going to rehash our entire Round 1 posts this time around. Instead I am going to link back to the opening round coverage, and add a couple of new videos for each company. If you are a fan of a particular company, be sure to share either the web-link, or this Facebook link. Unfortunately, votes on your personal pages don’t count.

And with that out of the way, here is the tip-off match for the Sweet 16.

KA-BAR:

KA-BAR reached the second round with a 27-1 throttling of Utica Cutlery. Utica was gracious in defeat however, sending us a couple of their new survival-oriented drop point knives. Look for more Utica content as they reenter the outdoor-knife market. Click the above link to see the full KA-BAR write up, or click here for TTAK’s complete KA-BAR archives.

Before I get the the video, I want to highlight a particular piece from our archive: KA BAR and Fairbairn – Two fighting children of different philosophies . The original piece was from HROARR.com, which is a “independent, neutral meeting ground and resource site dedicated to the Historical European Martial Arts community.” It is among my favorite shared links in my time at TTAK and worth a read if you missed it the first time around.

And a finally a bit of humor, courtesy of KA-BAR:

W.R. Case and Sons Cutlery:

Case reached the Sweet 16 by defeating Ontario in the first round by a score of 29-14, helped in part by a Facebook share by the company. You can read about Case’s company profile and Round 1 matchup at that link, or you can browse our complete Case archive here.

Please vote below and on Facebook. Good luck to both companies.

Thanks again to everyone who has made this tournament such an enjoyable endeavor.

    • I like the Becker line also.
I have a JAB Potbelly that is nice too.
Good to see KaBar making knives without the rat-tail tang.

  1. case knives are gorgeous and probably quite satisfying to collect. very few of them lock though so i won’t own many.
the kabar bk series gets my vote. the reinhardt alone would be enough.

  2. Also – suggestion. I’m having a hard time getting back to the original sets of brackets. I mean, I have them bookmarked and all, but wouldn’t it be nice to have a quick link on every page of the tournament so that people can jump back and forth? My web-fu is weak.
