Video has emerged of a man terrorizing a busy Glasgow street at rush-hour Wednesday, armed with multiple knives and a hatchet. When confronted by police, the man calmly cuts his throat with a “Stanley Knife” in front of onlookers. He would later die from this self-inflicted injury. Political-terrorism is not suspected.
SHOCKING footage has emerged showing a man brandishing blades and an axe moments before ‘slitting his own throat’ in central Glasgow.
The footage appears to show the man walking down West Nile Street with two knives in front of shocked onlookers.
He then appears to make a slashing gesture to his throat, in footage too graphic to show, as he stops in front of a black car in the middle of the road.
The knifeman – dressed in dark clothing – is then seen being pepper-sprayed by cops and taken to hospital in an ambulance.
An office worker who filmed the incident gasped in horror as another man could be heard saying: “Jeez – oh, what’s he doing? There’s a woman walking right past him. What’s she doing?”
The onlooker continues: “She didn’t realise. They didn’t have a clue. Oh my god – how’s somebody walking by him?
The police tackle the man in the street as the witnesses say: “They need to get him quickly … just grab him before he collapses.
“They need to be careful, he’s sitting with a knife. OH MY GOD he’s still going.”
The man later died of his injuries after witnesses described how he “calmly slit his own throat” in front of horrified children.
Onlookers said a family with young children stumbled across the chilling scene as the middle-aged man began “slashing at his neck with a Stanley knife” in the middle of the afternoon.
Police say the man was involved in an assault at about 4pm before walking away and inflicting serious injuries on himself in Glasgow city centre.
