Nightly Knife Porn: Fillet o’ Fish on Friday edition…

I am still enjoying the warm and fuzzies from my Project Healing Waters trip last weekend, and I guided Tuesday and Wednesday in the Smokies. I am riding out my end-of-season spike in trips as the “leaf-peepers” descend on the National Park. Tourism is down a bunch this year, but Gatlinburg and the Park are open and the areas affected by last year’s fire are sprouting with new growth. As is the surrounding community.

At any rate, I needed a theme for tonight as the last couple Knife Porn posts were of the more random variety. Since I have fishing on the brain, I thought fillet-knives would suit my mood.

As I mentioned last night, I don’t want to steal someone’s work but I need a photo for the post’s homepage preview. So here is an embed of the photo above so views/likes/etc are properly credited.

Can’t resist the opportunity to plug my favorite fillet knife – the Big Chris SteelHead

Here is another one…

Long and thin…

Fillet knife is off to it's new home tomorrow. Forged from a coil spring with a spalted maple handle.

I love the dyed curly-maple…

Dyed and stabilized curly maple, lime green liners and a mosaic pin make up the handle on this 9" fillet knife in AEB-L

Might fall into the “Bird and Trout” category as opposed to “fillet knife”, but I like it nonetheless…

The Bubba-Blade is actually fairly well regarded, for a mass produced import…

Looks grippy for slimy hands…

I am not sure if I trust pinecone scales for heavy duty use, but on a fillet knife I think they’d hold up just fine…

En Garde…

Fillet knives ready to go to work. What do you think of this design?

A classic Rapala. I think I had one once upon a time…

Looks like a comfy handle…

The G10 almost looks like fish scales…

You might be cool, but you might not be double-liner cool…

Sooo classy…

Snack…

This knife is enjoying it's new home. Thank you for the photos @rexstpierre

Definitely a Bird and Trout. But it counts as a fish-knife…

I like the serpentine lines…

I inherited my dad’s Rapala, along with many memories of our fishing trips together. Its not an $800 custom knife, just a $18 tool to clean our catch after a day of fishing in the West Tennessee lakes, rivers, and ponds. Nonetheless, it’s priceless.
