Blade Show 2013 Begins And I’m Feeling Punk

Is the 2013 Blade Show overwhelming? Only in the Charlize Theron sense of the word. In fact, I’ve been running my credit card under a water fountain for the last ten minutes, hoping to cool the damn thing down. Ever spent $2500 on a knife? Neither have I. But I have been tempted, Lord. That’s the going price for a Peter Martin Steampunk knife, with watch bits that work and . . . stuff. Available at Or not, depending. Make the jump for the other side(s). More and less expensive—but equally well-crafted blades—are all over this football-field sized room. More knife porn to follow . . .

  1. Matt in FL says:

I think the blade is more interesting than the handle. $2500 seems like a lot of money for someone to just find interesting ways to stick random stuff to the scales.

  2. Duncan Idaho says:

    … And a very big steam-powered giraffe that smokes…

Cool knife, I’m surprised that I’ve never seen a steampunk knife until now.

For $2500, there’s probably quite a bit of gold or platinum on the handle. I know I’d lose it within about two weeks.

    1. Robert Farago says:

All the stuff that’s stuck on works. At least in the sense that it spins. Gold watch crown, gizmos and gadgets. Remembering that something is worth exactly what someone will pay for it. FWIW.

      1. Duncan Idaho says:

Yeah, that seems to be a recurring theme on steampunk stuff. That’s quite a level of craftsmanship, getting all that timed and fitted just right.

  3. Mike L says:

A distinction between the casual gun and knife community is their perspective on price. 4000 dollar AI ‘s wont cause a ruffal. A couple of hundred on a blade causes fits. OMG how can you spend that? A 10 dollar pot metal chinese import is all they have been exposed to. It will take a lot of education to change that. Shows like Blade help change that attitude but attendance needs to increase 100 fold and there needs to be more media focused on mankind ‘s first tool. TTAK is doing the lords work.

  4. Nate says:

Gavkoo and TuffThumbz also made steampunk versions of their knives. Check them out on Youtube

  5. Gapp says:

One of the uglier knives ive seen haha. I like expensive knives as much as the other guy, hell I spent almost $1000 on my carbon/TI XM-18, almost $600 for my Strider and $500 for the ZT 0777, and theres definitely been $2000+ knives I want (but wont be able to afford till I strike it a little more rich) but man oh man…that is really, a seriously ugly knife lol. To each their own I suppose!
