Ka-Bar launched new variations of the Becker Knife & Tool BK2 and BK9 today at noon during BLADE Show 2015.
No, they are not uncoated. Instead of the standard black powder coating, these feature a clear epoxy coating. Ethan Becker himself was on hand and he told me that the blades will glide through meat/animals much more smoothly than the black-coated versions while the epoxy coating will still provide moisture protection for the 1095CV steel.
The clear-coat BK’s will come with green Grivory handle scales as pictured, and a tan nylon sheath. The BK&T/Ka-Bar logo is laser etched diagonally across the side of the blade. MSRP is the same as it is for the standard versions.
For now, only these two knives will be receiving the clear-coat treatment, but the reps on hand said that if the pair does well in the marketplace, it could possibly spread across more of the lineup.
