Coming Soon: Cold Steel ‘Parking Lot Sale’

Parking Lot Sale

It’s not our editorial policy to get suckered in by breathless ‘press releases’ boasting of huge sales and deep discounts. Even though we run some banner ads, we’re careful to keep the advertising on the margins of the web page, and not in the content.

But after watching Cold Steel’s oddly disturbing sword porn videos, I’m thinking that their ‘Parking Lot Sale’ might be a bit more interesting than your typical (i.e. bogus) ‘sale’ event.

I Tweeted back to Cold Steel to find out if they’ll have any live sword demos with (dead) farm animals, and their response was enigmatic and emphatic at the same time. This bodes well.

Because I could care less about promises of huge selections and ‘Sofa King’ low prices; everybody promises those. But if somebody’s going to chop through pig heads and meat-filled cowboy boots while dressed like medieval executioners, I’d seriously fly to L.A. to see that shit. Either way, I won’t be able to attend this one since my brother is getting married that weekend in Colorado. As Frost said, I have promises to keep, and miles to go before I sleep.

The ‘Parking Lot Sale’ will be May 18-19 at Cold Steel’s new digs in Ventura, CA. (Click on the map to get the address from the Google Maps page.) If any of you live near Ventura and happen to check it out, be sure to get video of the pigs. Or whatever. You will be rewarded.

  1. Mark Davis says:

I went to the Cold Steel parking lot sale a few years ago. Picked up a couple of items at good prices.

As an aside – Cold Steel has some crazy marketing, but all of the CS knives that I have are serious cutting tools. If I can’t find my edc Benchmade, I have no problem slipping a Cold Steel Voyager into my pocket.

    1. Pat says:

Cold Steel offers a wide array of cutting blades nobody else does, if you can get good prices, they got nice stuff.

  2. Curtis says:

While I have never had to chance to go to the parking lot sales (they are once or twice a year) I have had friends who did and always got good stuff for decent prices. Swords were not made to cut a steak or as a tool. They were made for one thing only, to damage the person who is trying to damage you. Their sword tests mimic as close as possible this aspect….and hey they donate the meat to a homeless shelter afterwards.

  3. Jonathan says:

    couldn’t care less.

I know, being a grammar nazi. Can’t help it. Sorry.
