Defensive Ladle Use: Watch cooks chase knife-wielding robber from Chinese eatery

He tried to hop the counter but they beat him away with cookware, video shows.

The suspect fled, and remains at large.

A prolific holdup-man in Brooklyn got quite the shock when the staff at Chen’s Garden did not prove as acquiescent as his previous victims. When the suspect hopped the counter wielding a knife, two cooks rushed at him, ladles in hand, and chased him from the premises.

In a video released by police Wednesday, the robber hops onto the counter with knife in hand, but then retreats when the cooks rush him about 9:30 p.m. on Jan. 4 inside Chen’s Garden at 11046 Flatlands Ave., police said.

The robber left the restaurant empty-handed, but he’s successfully stuck up three other eateries since Dec. 19, police said.

Note the second cook grabbing the stool as he went after the perp. Smart move. A chair is a great defensive weapon against a knife. My Krav instructor would approve.

Reminds me of the famous song…

Saw a man pull a knife and his intended victim put his arm thru the back of a chair and held it like a lion tamer. Then picked up another chair with his right and swung it. Very effective defense.

One of Obama’s sons just doing what Obama’s sons do!
