Friday FIlm Fest: Rail Spike Edition

The kiddos are family-room camping and the smell of popcorn is still fresh in the house. The Sandlot is winding down here at my place, but the films are just getting rolling for this week’s Friday Film Fest.

The video above comes to us from out friends at Cold Steel. I am a neophyte to the world of throwing knives. I am just adequate at flinging blades that are designed for the purpose. I shudder to think of the carnage that would ensue if I tried to develop proficiency at throwing large folders.

More videos below the jump.

I love the single camera angle and the rhythm of both the music and the hammer strikes. There is beauty in the simplicity of a railroad spike knife. But lest you thing they are purely a curiosity, Iron Mountain Cutlery brings us a video of one of their spike knives skinning one of the most serious game animals on the planet – a cape buffalo.

Our final video is a demonstration of mad culinary knife skills. Master Sushi Chef Hiro Terada shows how he can precisely slice an onion and cucumber while wearing a blindfold. I imagine that the chef has pretty serious sharpening chops as well. I don’t want to imagine a mistake.

We hope these brighten your Friday. Have a great weekend folks. Don’t forget to add you captions to our Caption This Contest. Deadline is 12:01am Tuesday Morning.

Clay, you need to post a video on the “kids ” game mumbley peg. The saftey nazis have made it impossible for play in the schoolyard. But it teaches the youngins how to handle those folders.
