Friday Film Fest: Watermelon Destruction Edition. (and more)

I hate when I am behind the curve on a knife story that ends up going viral. I was pleased that I caught the CSM story just hours after it went live, and before it was picked up by Instapundit, Drudge, or another big aggregator. Sometimes however, a story makes the rounds on the clickbait sites before I catch it. I don’t want to just post something that probably showed up on your personal Facebook feed.

The WASP injection knife has been making the rounds a bit lately, and has a cool factor worth sharing. It was originally designed for divers as a defense against sharks. There is a hollow injection tube that runs the length of the blade and dumps a CO2 charge into the target once the knife penetrates and a button is pushed.

The concept makes sense if you were about to become lunch for a Great White. I just don’t like voluntarily lowering my position on the food chain. so I will never know.

Our friend Jeff aka “CutleryLover” brings us the following tale of a confrontation with a Sheriff Deputy who took exception to Jeff’s wearing a neck knife. Apparently, the Officer felt that this was “abnormal behavior” and feels that a knife carried this way is somehow more dangerous than the one in his pocket, or even the pistol he was legally concealing. That someone with so little common sense is in a position of authority over his fellow citizens is frightening.

Earlier this week, we covered the story of the Argentinian homeowner who fought off 4 home-invaders with a katana. The Tomo News channel has digital reenactments of news stories. The animation of the story is quite entertaining, as are many of their videos.

Finally, I leave you with a knife related scene from classic cinema. The 1957 film Twelve Angry Men is a fantastic rendition of a famous play. Henry Fonda’s performance is legendary.

Have a great weekend folks!

That knife was much more effective on a watermelon than it was on a pig. he would have done better just hitting it in the head with a hammer.
