Industry Legend Chuck Buck passes away.

Third generation family member and company Chairman Chuck Buck has passed away.

Buck Knives, Inc. issued the following statement on its Facebook Page this afternoon:

“It is with heavy hearts that we regret to inform everyone that we have lost a legend. Chuck Buck, Chairman of Buck Knives, passed away Friday evening. He was an industry icon and friend to all. Please keep his family in your prayers.

More details will be released Monday. ‪#‎edgeofalegend‬. ‪#‎BuckKnives‬.”

Our thoughts and prayers are with the family and all those touched by this industry giant. Legacy planning for a company is always difficult, many companies do not survive the transition to the second generation, fewer still the third. Chuck was the grandson of company founder Hoyt Buck. It is a testimony to his leadership that the company remains strong today, still widely respected under 4th generation leadership of Chucks son, Buck Knives President and CEO CJ Buck.

  1. sal glesser says:

Chuck was indeed an icon and an inspiration to all of us in the knife industry. Like many, my first “real” knife was a Buck 110, urging a life path that continues to this day. He will be dearly missed and will always be thought of with respect and reverence. A good man. My best to his family. sal glesser

  2. Jay says:

My thoughts and prayers are with the family and friends.
A true hero of the knife world has passed but his legacy will live forever.
    RIP Chuck.

  3. James says:

It was very sad to hear about this, Chuck led an incredible company that produced some of the best knives in the industry.

  4. Robert says:

That’s indeed extremely sad to read. I always love the knives they were producing. RIP

    1. The company continues under i believe 4th generation leadership. Chucks son was already running things D2D.

Big loss for the industry regardless.
