Introducing the MicroTech VenomTech

Something wonderfully awesome and impractical happened at BladeHQ yesterday. They have partnered with MicroTech to bring to the market an exclusive blade that was previously limited to a few full customs by Tony Marfione a few years back. Wednesday night, after a YouTube video was posted by Jim Skelton (follow his channel), they debuted on their site in multiple variations. And I want one…

The practicality of OTF autos has been beaten with a dead horse. However this takes impracticality to a whole new level. Not only does the 5.5″ blade and “switchblade” classification (I treat that word as I do assault weapon) limit the jurisdictions it can be owned in, but the 2 inches of blade sticking out while closed limits it to kydex sheath carry only. But who the hell cares? This thing is still freaking awesome and I want one. Actually I want one with a satin finish and one with a black coating. If you want one they’re sold exclusively at Blade HQ for $280. Or you can check out Knife Thursday. They’re giving one away and they are just plain awesome.

Love the “as seen on TV”, the knife, not so much.

  2. Sam L. says:

    Way too much.

  3. GC says:

At least they’re up front about how ridiculous the knife is. Think of how many Crocodile Dundee moments you could have with this.

  4. AW1Ed says:

    Meh. An overpriced melon knife.

  5. FJO says:

When an OTF knife blade doesn’t fully retract into the handle, the knife is normally considered defective.

    1. sagebrushracer says:

but, but, you can cut melons and sandwiches with this one!

  6. AJ unlimited says:

This knife is ridiculous I said from the get-go when I open the box and smile as big as I’ve smiled in a long time. I use it as a boot knife and it sure makes me feel warm and fuzzy when I know it’s there.
