images (2)A nine-year old in Syracuse called 9-1-1 reporting that her mother was threatening to kill her and her sister with a large kitchen knife. The mother and her fiance claim it was a prank, going as far as filming it to upload to Facebook.

While the girl was on the phone with dispatch, the mother, 33-year-old Phyllis Gary, picked up the phone and told dispatchers she did have a knife and that it was all part of a joke to scare her children for a Facebook video, according to police.

Police say they found the children crying and “screaming in terror” in a bedroom when they arrived on scene.

Investigators learned the mother and her fiance, 37-year-old Ercell Morris, did threaten to kill the children with a large silver knife, going so far as to hold the knife to the back of the neck of the 5-year-old child, according to a press release from the Syracuse Police Department.

The incident was allegedly caught on video since Morris was recording it to later post to Facebook to show people the joke they played on the children, according to police.”

Yeah…I got nothing. The stupid is strong in some folks. The couple is facing charges from illegal weapons possession to child endangerment.

  1. Spencer says:

Let’s hope that Gary and Morris will spend a goodly amount of time in jail, making charming new friends and laughing about their “joke.” And they can post a video of that on Facebook.

  2. Sam L. says:

Don’t know what was illegal about the kitchen knife, but child endangerment seems right.

  3. borg says:

The weapon charge is likely due to them using it in the commission of a crime.
