Is there anything more terrifying than a clown? How about clowns with machetes?

Wasco, CA residents have reported seeing clowns at night, armed with machetes and baseball bats.

Residents of the town of Wasco, CA have been reporting strange clown sightings around town at night. This would be terrifying enough, but apparently these clowns are armed with machetes and baseball bats, possibly even firearms.

While no one has yet been assaulted, there has been one arrest of a 14 year old copycat. Social media has been abuzz with pictures and reports, and there are apparently several creepsters running around town. This has led to the scary situation of multiple clowns running loose, though why is not really clear.

This has also led to one of the more bizarre Police press statements I have ever read.

From ABC News:

“There’s a natural phobia of clowns,” Sgt. Joe Grubbs of the Bakersfield Police Department told ABC News today. “And, clearly, if someone is dressed up as a clown and holding a weapon in a threatening manner, that’s going to frighten people.”

There have been 20 sightings in a week, but only one clown has landed in cuffs. Bakersfield police arrested one juvenile last week for allegedly chasing other juveniles while in a clown costume. The 14-year-old suspect, who wasn’t armed, told police he was participating in a hoax he had seen online.”

Frighten people indeed. Let’s just hope that they do not join forces or we could end up with a situation like this:

  1. Matt in FL says:

I think this is the first time I’ve ever seen a scene from that movie that wasn’t the “Come out and play-y-y” line.

I don’t think there’s anything natural about a fear of clowns.

  2. You haven’t met my friend’s mother. She is like the head clown for the State of Nebraska and she is extremely scary.

  3. Really this post was all about getting to post the clip from the Warriors. I couldn’t help myself. It was te first thing that came to my head when I saw the story.

Since David had a good post scheduled, I didnt mind a bit of a throwaway.

  4. Sam L. says:

Caption for “Clowns With Machetes”: Machete, not seen in above photo,…”

  5. Always knew I was wise not to trust clowns. 😉
