Obscure Object of Desire: Stephan Alexandr’s Fangblade

Portland-area artist Stephan Alexandr specializes in turning natural materials such as animal bones and skulls into decorative and functional works of art. Among his most functional is the Fangblade – a bone knife that can be used for cheese or opening letters. Each Fangblade is hand carved from a single piece of alligator jaw. The “handle” is available in a wide variety of colors, and 2 teeth remain in each jaw/handle . . .

Sure, the Fangblade is not going to be your next EDC knife. Nor does it have any particular utility beyond slicing a nice smoked Gouda. But they’re a relatively reasonable (for an objet d’art) $65 and sure to turn heads when sitting atop your desk or cheese tray.

    Man, that’s just creepy.

Don’t cut the cheese around me.

  3. Hanover Fist says:

This is the closest I have seen to a real chrysknife. Neato.
