Pre-Production sale on TOPS Fieldcraft Folder

Even before I visited TOPS Knives’ production facility in Idaho Falls last month, I have had an admitted bias towards mid-sized American-made knife companies. I admire the kind of scrappiness and innovative mindset that is necessary to claw market share from the larger, legacy companies or less expensive import brands. TOPS, best known for their robustly-built fixed blades, is continuing its expansion into the folder market with their newest offering – the Fieldcraft folder, which is now available for pre-production sale.

Press release below the jump.

From TOPS Knives:

One of the best all-around Bushcraft knives is now a folder. The Fieldcraft has been a TOPS best-seller since it launched. It has been made in two different steels, several finishes, and with multiple handle options. It has been enjoyed by bushcrafters, survivalists, military personnel, LEOs, and just about everyone else because of its versatility.

The folding version promises to be every bit as useful. You can be 1 of the first 50 people to own this highly anticipated knife by purchasing one of the pre-production models. These are the first 50 manufactured to production specs. Each of the 50 comes with a serialized box to match the knife, a knife cleaning mat, a bottle of Breakthrough Clean® knife oil, and of course a TOPS whistle.

The sale goes live on 7/18/17 at 1:00pm at fieldcraft-folder and will be a first come, first served sale.

I do not know what the price will be on the standard production model. I will pass it along when I find out.

  1. Sam L. says:

It certainly looks good, but it’s tooooooooooo rich for my wallet.

  2. G says:

Who the hell would spend 500 dollars on a small pocket knife. Could any knife really be that good?

    1. The MSRP of the standard production version will be lower.

The fixed-blade Fieldcraft is $200. It is expected that a folding version of the same knife would run $100-$125 more. The 50-piece limited run is $500, but it comes serialized and with some additional goodies.

Pricey yes, but not out of line with what one would expect for a premium American-made folder.
