Senate KOPA Companion Bill Introduced

Senators Mike Enzi (R-WY) and Mike Lee (R-UT) have filed the Senate companion bill to the House’s Knife Owners Protection Act which was filed last November. See? Who says everything that happens in DC smells like sewage?

The KOPA would provide ‘safe harbor’ provisions to protect knife owners while traveling through knife-unfriendly jurisdictions like New Jersey or New York City. As long as the traveler complied with Federal knife laws (which basically don’t exist, except for ‘switchblades’) he or she could transport any knife through any jurisdiction as long as it was locked up or not immediately accessible.

The KOPA is far from a nationwide knife carry bill, but it does start to chop the legs out from under obnoxious state and local laws. Contact your senator here and urge them to support S.1955.

The raw sewage smell overpowers the very rare moment of lilacs. Why is there no longer a link from TTAG to here?

There wasn’t one from TTAG to here this morning either. Other oddities abound, so it may just be an issue at the server.

If you’re referring to the TTAK button in the sidebar at TTAG, it was removed in favor of the Texas Int’l Firearms Festival logo. The problem was that when the posts got published to Facebook, Facebook was picking up random photos from the site to attach to the posts. It’s just the way it works. At least half the time, it was picking up and attaching that TTAK graphic to the posts, which didn’t make sense, since all the posts were about guns. Make sense?

You said facebook. I zoned after that. Kept picturing difi being beat with a phone book. Does that make me a bad person?

Thanks for the link to support, I’ll be talking to Mike Kelly about this shortly, he is supposed to be doing a meet&greet in Butler County pretty soon.

Blast! I was just about to hit the post button when the screen froze and wiped out my post!!!

This bill sucks. Under this bill, you can’t carry your EDC in your pocket if you want to come within the safe harbor. So if you happen to be out touristing about, you can’t take your knife with you, apparently not even in a backpack, because then it would be accessible. What, are we supposed to buy miniature gun vaults or locking briefcases? I think pretty much everyone who visits here carries an EDC as a useful and often used tool; having it locked up defeats the purpose of having it. And if one happened to be in NYC, this bill pretty much would allow you to use your knife when squirreled away in your hotel room.

There seems to be a popup ad with video that is disrupting my attempts to write…
