Howdy folks.  I will get back to post-Blade Show coverage shortly, but here is some of what has been going on in the mean time.

LONDANISTAN: Driver stabbed by moped thugs with zombie knife for his £30k watch

The 27-year-old financial manager, who wishes to remain anonymous, told the Sun Online: “They put hammers through the windows and started shouting ‘give us your watches’.

“Then a third man pulled up at my window with a  knife and that’s when I started taking my watch off and gave it to them.”

The muggers then jump back on the moped and head west on the A406 towards Brent Cross.

LASTSTANDONZOMBIEISLAND: Joubert’s Welsh trench sword

Welsh Knife with scabbard (WEA 785) The ‘Welsh Knife’ was designed in 1916 by the sculptor and armourer Felix Joubert and patented by him, as a ‘new or improved trench knife’. It was allegedly based on an ancient Welsh weapon, although the existence of such a distinctly Welsh mediæval sword has since been disproved.

DERP: March against knife and gun crime in London

Last night police opened the 74th murder investigation in London this year. It’s a horribly familiar story – a man in his thirties who died after he was stabbed outside a tube station in North London. Just down the road a few months ago Kobi Nelson was also stabbed and died. Symeon Brown has been speaking to his mother, who was taking part in a march against rising knife and gun violence. (Video at link)

I thought guns were already (mostly) illegal in the UK

JOERG SPRAVE: Fully-“Functional” Han Solo blaster

A knife-wielding prison inmate stabbed two female police officers in the Belgian city of Liege, stole their service weapons and shot them and a bystander dead in an attack Tuesday that prosecutors fear could be terror-related.

Justice Minister Koen Geens said the assailant, who was later killed by police, was on a two-day leave from prison. Geens described him as a repeat offender who had been incarcerated since 2003 and was due for release in two years.

ALL THE COOL KIDS CARRY SLIPJOINTS NOW: Chris Reeve Knives releasing first slipjoint

CRK produced the Impinda but the knife is designed by Bill Harsey. Harsey has worked with CRK in the past on fixed blade designs, and the Impinda definitely carries his imprint. The handle design’s finger groove and large pivot screw are clearly Harsey touches, and the veteran maker is known for simple, hardworking blade shapes like the drop point on the Impinda. Harsey’s recent production output has favored larger blades, and while the Impinda isn’t massive it does come in at a larger size than many slipjoints and modern traditional knives.

That’s it for now. Have a great Monday everyone.
