A little more than six months ago, The Truth About Knives went live (a few weeks ahead of plan) and started bringing you all the knife news, politics and reviews we could get our hands on. Since then we’ve generated dozens of knife reviews and feature articles, and we’ve spotlighted dozens more knives that we haven’t yet gotten our hands on. This is our core mission, and we’ve got several more knife reviews in the works as I write this.
We gave away a couple of Mora knives early on, and then outdid ourselves by giving away a brand-new FNS 9mm handgun in our massively successful contest. On a sillier note we’ve also brought you some goofy YouTube videos, plenty of stupid stabbings du jour. We’ve journeyed frequently to the Darkest Depths Of Uselessness, and brought you all the knife politics we can find. Too bad about those new TSA rules…
And we hope you’ve enjoyed it. Clearly some of you have, and you know who you are. Our readership went from nada to well over 100,000 pageviews per month, and we even grabbed the Brass Ring of independent blogdom a handful of times when our articles got picked up by Instapundit.
Here are some of our statistics as of this afternoon:
- 470 posts published.
- 648,000 total pageviews.
- 3,333 comments posted.
- <10 deleted (flame) comments. This is a troll/flame rate of less than 0.33%, or could be described as a politeness/wittiness/awesomeness rate of 99.6%. Well done!
The next six months will be even better, as we work to bulk up our back catalog of knife reviews. I don’t know what they’ll be yet, but there will also be more contests to come.
The TTAG crew and I will blitz the Las Vegas SHOT Show in January, which is a Mecca for knife and gear guys. I know it’s more than six months out, but Clay Aalders and I are also heading to Atlanta in June to cover the 2014 Blade Show. That will be awesome.
Thanks to all of you for reading and commenting and making us the success we are. There’s much more where this came from!
