As I have mentioned, I am in Idaho Falls this week, revisiting my old stomping grounds and doing a bit of flyfishing. I lived in the nearby town of Ririe, ID from 2002-2006, though I was not involved in the knife industry. Consequently, I had not yet heard of the fledgling (at the time) TOPS Knives which was founded in 1998 and is located in Idaho Falls. ESEE Knives has a significant presence here as well via their partner – Rowen Manufacturing. I am a bit sketchy on all of the details of that relationship, though I will seek to clarify this.
I will be visiting both TOPS and Rowen today, but as I am travelling without a laptop, I will not be doing a full write-up until I return home to Tennessee. However, I plan on sharing a ton of photos, which you can check out on our Instagram feed (@knifetruth). Please give us a follow if you are so inclined.
I am excited about these visits for several reasons. First, it is just a great opportunity for me to learn more about larger-scale knife production. More importantly in the long term, I hope these visits solidify the relationships between these companies and TTAK. It isn’t everyday that a blogger travels halfway across the country to visit, and this opportunity to forge a personal connection is invaluable.
This is going to be a fun day. I am looking forward to sharing it with you.
