U.K. man convicted in “stabbing” of aggressive man in his home.

UK Man stabs burgler

I am so thankful that I live in a country where my natural right to defend myself and those around me from harm is protected in the Constitution. I pity the Brits who are not free citizens but subjects whose rights are granted to them by human monarch. A Stoke-on-Trent man was just convicted of “unlawful wounding” after leaving a 3cm wound on a man’s leg.

From StokeSentinel.co.uk:

A 64-year-old who was confronted in his own home by a ‘powerfully-built’ man now has a criminal conviction after he ‘panicked’ and armed himself with a knife.

Glenval Fox was found guilty of unlawful wounding after he stabbed the ‘aggressive’ man in the leg during the confrontation.

Fox had been charged with a more serious offence – causing grievous bodily harm with intent – but was cleared following a trial at Stoke-on-Trent Crown Court.

However, the jury convicted him of the lesser charge and he has now been handed a suspended prison sentence.

At his sentencing hearing, the court heard Fox and his disabled wife were at their Hanley home when they were confronted by a man and a woman.

At some point Fox went into the kitchen and picked up a large knife. The confrontation ‘ebbed and flowed for several minutes’, inside and outside the house.

The injury to the victim’s leg was caused outside, when he kicked out towards Fox while backed up against a car. The court heard neither man initially realised that the stabbing had happened.

The victim was left with a 3cm wound which was sutured, although he initially declined medical assistance.

I don’t know why the “victim” and his companion were in Fox’s house, I cannot find details. It doesn’t sound like a home invasion from what I have read. The judge said the the “victim” was wrong but not acting illegally.

Recorder Easteal told Fox: “You were confronted in your own home by the complainant, a man who was powerfully built, clearly angry and aggressive. You and your partner had every reason to be frightened and intimidated.

“The confrontation ebbed and flowed for several minutes, inside and outside. You could have just shut the door, but by the time all this had taken place you were angry and frightened and determined to keep him backing off.

“His behaviour was wrong, yours broke the law. You picked up a knife and that could have led to catastrophe.

In America is your mindset is that you are legitimately in fear of severe bodily injury, something that the judge seems to stipulate, you are acting lawfully.

The catastrophe is that the once proud British people put up with this shit.

and this shit too…

pretty sketchy. seems to have sorted itself out.

a goodwill knife box like that would be raided daily around here, to have the contents surface for sale on maxwell street. or in the british vernacular, the autojumble.

  2. Ze Kraggash says:

Person with knife and nefarious intent:

“I think I’ll stab someone. Oh, look, there’s the Cookie Monster. I used to watch him as a wee lad and suddenly feel remorse for my lost childlike innocence. I think I’ll drop my knife in the box instead.”

  3. Chase M. says:

Look at those graphics on the knife box. A screwdriver, a broken bottle, and a swiss army knife are included in there…

Who is carrying a screwdriver? Anyone who has a toolbox that is about to use it for it’s intended purpose or bringing to a friend’s house for them to use it for it’s intended purpose. Just gives you pause to think that someone might use these images to cause trouble for law abiding citizens.

Who is packing a broken bottle for defense? I’ve not seen a kydex sheath for a broken bottle before, but maybe the British know something I don’t. Makes me want to break out some of my kydex and make a youtube video.

The swiss army knife could murder a few wine bottles with the cork screw.

  4. Sam L. says:

There’s a lot we don’t know about this, but from what I’ve seen here and elsewhere, a home intruder/burglar/assailant in England MUST NOT be stayed or accosted in his appointed rounds.

  5. Hannibal says:

Wait… so he followed the ‘aggressive’ man outside the house and THEN stabbed him?

In lots of states in America that wouldn’t necessarily fly.

  6. Look closely at the Essex Police badge logo on the collection box: three BIG blades, seaxes perhaps?

  7. Dave S says:

A man has the right to defend himself. Someone needs to give him a better lawyer so he can defend himself against the judiciary and their kangaroo court of injustice.

I can see the day coming when you need the same weapon to defend yourself against the privatised courts as you need to defend yourself against the street gangs.

  8. Snatchums says:

Only cowards carry….. fuck you Cookie Monster.

Never thought I’d utter that phrase.

    1. I heard Oscar the Grouch is a Narc.

  9. Chuck Paul says:

Lol, so in england you have no right to protect your self when an intruder enters your home. In Texas, an intruder is shot and he is lucky if he survived.
